CITY Rangers lifted the Motherwell Football Association (Mofa) First Division trophy when they conquered Motherwell NU 29’s United Stars 2-0 at the Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Sunday.

Rangers skipper Loyiso Springbok and Mcebisi Dayile scored their side’s last goals of the season. Coming to the game, Rangers had already won the league title.

Rangers head coach Mpumelelo Timse said his side had been fighting for the league title.

“We once campaigned in the Mofa Premier League, but we failed to maintain our status,” he said.

“Things did not go our way in the Mofa First Division over a couple of seasons, because every side wants to play in the top-flight league.”

“We had been winning some cup competitions in the Mofa Build It First Division, but our aim was to win promotion.

“The previous games had a telling effect on my players. I am happy that we have accomplished our mission because every player gave his utmost best.

“I want to thank our players and our officials as well as our loyal die-hard supporters. This success is dedicated to them.”

Young Ideas registered an emphatic 7-1 victory over a lacklustre Motherwell United Brothers.

Wells Estates United collected six points in their last two games.

United walloped Scorpions 6-1 in their first game and they drubbed MUBS 3-0 in the second.

Rangers, Young Ideas and Wells Estates United will campaign in the Mofa Build It Premier League in the 2017 season and Motherwell United are relegated to the First Division.

MOFA Build It First Division last results of the season:

Real City 3-3 Happy Stars

Crystal Palace 2-0 Motherwell NU 29 United Stars

Scorpions 0-2 Eleven Brothers.
