PORT Elizabeth members of the South African Police Service (SAPS) are investigating a murder case and an inquest docket after a 29-year-old man was allegedly stabbed to death in New Brighton and an unborn baby found in a plastic bag in Motherwell.“It is alleged that a 21-year-old man stabbed to death a 29-year-old male, suspected to be his friend, at Dora Street in New Brighton at about 12:15pm on Sunday,” said police spokesperson Constable Mncedi Mbombo, adding that the man died on the scene with multiple stab wounds on his upper body.An eye-witness who preferred to remain anonymous informed police.According to Mbombo, the informant told police the suspect and the victim were friends who were seen drinking together the previous day. The reason for the murder was not known at the time of going to press.“Police found six rounds of ammunition in the suspect’s room and arrested him,” the police spokesperson said, adding that police were investigating a case of murder and unlawful possession of live ammunition.Meanwhile, a Qwarha Street, Motherwell resident, Anele Tshokela, went to a dump site to check bones for his dogs and came across a gruesome find at the weekend. “People who sell meat in the area normally throw bones at the dumping site. But instead of finding bones, Tshokela found the body of an unborn baby dumped in a plastic bag in a big rubbish bin around 6:30am on Sunday,” said Constable Mbombo.“No arrest has been made. We urge anyone with information that could assist police on the events leading up to the incident to contact Ikamvelihle Police Station or the Police emergency number 10111. Police have opened an inquest docket for investigation.
