Hand-knitted and crocheted scarves recently lit up Villiers Road in Walmer in celebration of Nelson Mandela month. Now in its sixth year, this nationwide initiative has proved to be hugely successful, whereby thousands of scarves are draped around trees and poles and hang resplendent for the taking by passersby in need.
