LOCAL resident, Undelwa Makina, was truly blessed this past festive season when she won a brand new Volkswagen up! in what turned out to be the biggest car giveaway ever in South African history.

Shoprite and Checkers gave 150 brand new VW up! cars away over a period of 4 weeks, with a minimum of five customers per day winning a car between November 28, 2016 and December 24, 2016.

To enter, customers only needed to spend R100 or more at their nearest Shoprite or Checkers supermarket.

Customers who bought any one of 29 participating products also qualified for an entry.

“Preparations for the festive season always start months in advance, to ensure that Shoprite and Checkers customers get the very best products at the most affordable prices,” said Neil Schreuder, Marketing Director for Shoprite Checkers.

“Last year we wanted to do even more, to thank our 29 million loyal customers for their support, so we pulled out all the stops in order to host South Africa’s biggest car giveaway ever – it was the season of giving after all!

“150 customers each drove away in a brand new car simply because they shopped at one of the almost 700 Checkers and Shoprite stores across South Africa,” said Schreuder.
