ONE of the lacklustre sides in the SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay SAB Regional League, Showvillage United, were on top of their game after they outclassed Hearts 3-0 at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Saturday.

Showvillage’s hardworking midfielder Sihle Wawi Matata proved to be very instrumental in the centre of the field when he attacked Hearts.

In the fifth minute, Malizole Sallas Wasa headed home Showvillage’s opening goal. Another Showvillage key player, Lukhanyo Konza, gave a sterling performance when he rounded the defenders of the visitors and finally beat goalkeeper Matthew Kingwell to give his side a 2-0 lead in the 15th minute.

Wasa came up with his second goal that increased Showvillage’s lead to 3-0 in the 30th minute after Matata laid a good pass.

The high temperature compelled the referee to give players several water breaks. The tempo of the game was very slow in the second half.

Hearts could not register a consolation goal. Hearts’ skipper Mark Upman and his midfielder Anele Bullet Mxoli showed character, but their frontmen were given no chances by the home side defenders.

In another game, PE Sundowns earned a hard-fought 3-2 win over Camper United at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Saturday.

Sandla Nganya registered a brace, while Luyolo Ndema came up with a goal. Camper’s goals came courtesy of Ndyebo Mazantsi and Yibanathi Essiene Ndwayana.

The Walmer derby between Mabayibone Strikers and Young Cosmos could not take place because the match officials that were supposed to control that game had to attend a referee’s course.
