Sparks hammer New Brighton 8-1 at home

MOTHERWELL soccer side, Sparks, devastated New Brighton 8-1 in their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Masters Association League game at the Motherwell NU 13 Grounds on Sunday.

Sparks showed that they were ruthless early on as Jomo Rixana registered an early goal.

Melikhaya Kula then came up with Sparks’ second goal. The Britons replied with their goal courtesy of Wanele Rara Klaasen that reduced their deficit to 2-1.

Then first stanza came to end with Rixana tormenting the defence of New Brighton.

In the second stanza, it seemed that the flood gates were opened. Kula increased his goal tally to two after he unleashed a thunderous shot that increased Sparks’ lead to 3-1. Rixana scored also his second goal to give Sparks a 4-1 lead.

A good move was initiated by Zolani Mofu sending a good pass to Rixana who pulled his trigger to register his third goal to put Sparks 5-1 ahead.

Kula also scored a long range shot that the goalkeeper fisted into the back of his own net, with Sparks leading 6-1. Mofu scored Sparks’ seventh goal.

New Brighton star player Mzamo Toyota Mbayi tested a shot at a close range to Sparks goalkeeper Patrick Rasana who parried it.

Then Rixana banged in his fourth goal that helped Sparks beat New Brighton 8-1.

In another one-sided game, PE All Stars embarrassed Villagers 7-1 in front of their home supporters at Motherwell NU 13 Ground.

Monde Dikana and Monde Tyaliti caused a headache to Villagers’ defenders who had a busy afternoon.

VW Masters drubbed AmaUnits 3-1 at Chevrolet Stadium in New Brighton. The VW goals came courtesy of Siyabonga Makhangela, Masixole Wali and Simphiwe Bitterhout, while Luzuko Dzuyi Hambaze registered AmaUnits’ consolation goal.
