OFTEN the parents of young adults who have attended schools for specialised education are left with the question of where to send their children for continued care after the completion of their schooling.

The Infinity Special Needs Centre was borne out of desperation by one of the parents, Sune Kretzmann, and a handful of parents with young adults who have special needs.

Kretzmann explained, “These young adults are in constant need of care, stimulation, exercise and a safe home environment, and that is exactly what we are trying to create with Infinity Special Needs Centre.

“After searching for and viewing potential facilities, we were fortunate to find our current premises and we are now renting space from the Cerebral Palsy Association of EC, which is next door to Cape Recife School.”

Kretzmann said that these facilities were currently suitable to accommodate up to 15 young adults, but as the need grew future expansion would be considered.

“It is also our intention to open a boarding facility in order to assist those parents who are in need of this service,” Kretzmann said.

The centre will be hosting an official open day on Saturday, December 8 from 09:00 to 12:00, at the premises situated at 54 Admiralty Way, Summerstrand.

Any interested parents who would like to visit the centre, are invited to contact Nina Crause on nina.crause@mandela.ac.za or 072 290 8032.
