ATHLETES of all sporting codes are invited to a special prayer service next Sunday.

The service is for all sportsmen and women of all denominations across Nelson Mandela Bay.

The Immanuel Brothers group of the Bethesda United Congregational Church is hosting the service, which is being held in honour of church leader Reverend Sam Arends, who had a vision to revive sport in the community back in 1964.

The theme for the service is “Sporting Gifts in Service of God”, according to Matthew 25:15-30.

“Representatives from Nelson Mandela University’s Faculty of Health Sciences, the Directorate of Sports, Recreation, Arts and Culture from the Nelson Mandela Bay Municipality, the United Through Sport Foundation and a speaker from Eastern Province Sport will be addressing the congregation,” said Elton Ambraal, one of the organisers.

The service will take place at Bethesda Congregational Church in Gumpert Street, Schauderville on Sunday, October 29, starting at 10am. The preferred dress code is sports attire. For info call Johnny Williams on 079 490 0109.
