COMMUNITY Chest of the Eastern Cape is this week holding its annual Winter Woolly Collection Campaign called Winter Woolly Week.

The purpose of this campaign is to collect much needed warm goods and non-perishable food in aid of the less fortunate communities in the Eastern Cape.

Two major sponsors for this campaign are General Motors SA and Caltex EC.

On Friday, June 10, employees from the Community Chest, Caltex EC and General Motors SA will participate in street collections at a number of major intersections in Port Elizabeth between 6am and 8.30am.

Members of the public are invited to donate clothes and money at the following intersections:

  • William Moffett/Cape Road
  • Fig Tree/Moffet on Main
  • Stanford Road/Aubrey Street
  • Five Ways on Cape Road.

In addition, there will be clothing collection boxes at participating Caltex Service Stations throughout the Eastern Cape, the Community Chest offices in Central, General Motors Dealers, Greenacres Shopping Centre and Walmer Park shopping centre.

On Saturday, June 11, cash collections will take place at Walmer Park Shopping Centre.

Mr South Africa, Armand du Plessis, and Miss PE, Nureen Hoosein, will be at the Baywest Shopping Centre collecting blankets.

Donations can also be dropped off at the Community Chest offices, 35 Clyde Street in Central.
