INTERNATIONAL stars Sybil and Judy Boucher are expected to perform at the Boardwalk Casino Festive Lawns on Saturday, December 1.

These singing sensations will be supported by the Bay’s finest young talent and Cape Town maestro Camillo Lombard and band.

Sybil achieved worldwide crossover hits with her cover versions of Dionne Warwick’s hits, Don’t Make Me Over and Walk on By, which were released internationally in 1989 and 1990, respectively.

The former became Sybil’s biggest hit in the USA, peaking at number 20, and was a number one hit in New Zealand.

Besides her singing career Sybil is currently in graduate school pursuing an advanced degree in leadership studies and adult education. Her intention is to be known as Dr Sybil.

She is also the recipient of the college’s president’s award. It signified that she was top staff member, as determined by upper administration.

“My contributions and commitment to the institution were deemed as incredibly valuable and worthy of acknowledging.

“Learning and sharing of knowledge are an integral part of who I am too,” said Sybil.

Boucher has had international success with many of her songs, including her number one hit, Dreaming of a Little Island as well as Tears on my Pillow, Can’t be With You Tonight, You Caught my Eye and My Heart is Yearning.

Can’t Be With You Tonight, was her biggest international hit, reaching number two in the UK in April 1987.

Her Belgian tour remains one of the highlights of her career. At an appearance at one stadium, there were 40 000 people with lighted candles chanting “Judy Boucher” as she sang.

A surprise call also came from South Africa informing her of being a massive success here.

Boucher was voted as one of the top 25 most influential Vincentian singers in Jamaica.

She is also a regular visitor to these shores and her songs resonate with so many people and have become part of the Cape culture.
