2018-07-25 06:00

THE PELFA Old Buck Gin League log is once more showing a familiar pattern with Callies, Central Acemates and Mahle Old Grey in the top three positions.

While Callies trailed Acemates by one point for a good few weeks, they have now opened a five-point lead over Acemates and a six-point lead over Old Grey.

Fairview Rovers are biting at the top three teams’ heels, only three points behind Mahle Old Grey after 15 rounds. The league has seven rounds to go.

Log leaders Callies whipped Priory 7-1 last week. For Callies, Karl Pereira was unstoppable with four goals.

Nigel Bailey, Monier Safedien and Riaan Baarth also added one goal each.

Central Acemates unfortunately went down 1-0 to Fairview Rovers. Sharief Mamoojee held his nerve in slotting a penalty for Rovers minutes before the final whistle to ensure their three log points.

Luck was on Mahle Old Grey’s side when NMBM gifted them with a goal 30 minutes into the first half to give them a close 1-0 win.

Westpark played against Kuyga Masters,a match that ended in a 1-1 draw. Shane Jenneker scored for Westpark in the 20th minute and Mzwanele Fulela equalised midway through the second half.

In another match, African Leopards’ Lwazi Gobane scored five minutes into the first half and Ncedisa Goniwe five minutes before the half-time whistle to ensure Leopards’ three points with a 2-0 win over Shamrocks. Finally, PE City and St Albans played out a high scoring three all draw.
