THE Mdantsane-based soccer side, Tornado FC, are officially the champions-in-waiting as they stretched their lead on the ABC Motsepe League Log table at the weekend.

Tornado have not lost a single game in the ABC Motsepe League, having only drawn once and gaining high-scoring wins in most of their other games.

In their home game at the weekend, Tornado thumped Swartkopsvalley United Brothers 5-0 and then embarrassed Try Again FC 7-1 last Saturday.

With a few games left, Tornado have already won the league title as no other side can catch them. The second placed side, PE Stars, crushed Matta Milan 3-0 at Saints Grounds at Gelvandale on Saturday.

The other Nelson Mandela Bay side, Sibanye, went down 2-0 to Butterworth FC at Walter Sisulu University Ibika Campus.

In what was described as a beautiful game of football, City Lads won the Alfred Nzo District derby 2-0 over Spears of the Nation.

EC Bees earned a sweet revenge 4-0 win over Lion City at Bhisho Stadium while the struggling Futures lost 4-1 to Pondo Chiefs at their home ground, Ginsberg Stadium.

Highbury FC earned three league points without kicking a ball after their opponents, FC Buffalo, failed to pitch up for game at South Campus Grounds.
