MOTHERWELL ladies’ side, Volcano LFC, drubbed Park United LFC 3-1 in their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Women’s Regional League clash, which took place at Motherwell NU 9 Stadium on Saturday.

The home side took the game to the visitors, who were unable to withstand the pressure.

Volcano LFC registered their opening goal after Babalwa Peter struck a thunderous shot that beat United’s goalkeeper.

United did not throw in the towel and they made their presence felt by starting good buildups from the midfield in order to equalise.

United replied with a spectacular goal, scored by Ansley Peterson. The visitors’ joy was short-lived as Lisakhanya Ngxwashula scored Volcano’s second goal.

United did everything in their power in search of the equaliser, but the Motherwell side kept things very tight at the back.

Peter scored her second goal that sealed the game at 3-1 in favour of Volcano LFC.

Head coach, Mzuvukile Kheshi, stated that his side was in the top five teams on the log table standings.

Kheshi said, “I am very happy with the performance of my team. These girls work very hard. I run this team by digging deep into my pocket. We have no sponsorship but in our community Dr Jaganath helps us in things like treating players’ injuries free of charge.

“I have knocked many times on the door of our ward councillor, but he could not assist us. Those challenges do not deter our players’ mission.”
