ZWIDE masters’ side, Winners FC, played their hearts out when they edged out Villagers 1-0 during their SAFA Nelson Mandela Bay Masters’ League clash at the Motherwell NU 13 Grounds on Sunday.

Following their 7-1 drubbing from PE All Stars, Villagers were resilient and resolute. Winners kept knocking on the door of Villagers. The hosts, on the other hand, brimmed with confidence.

Before the end of the first half Winners striker Monelo “Bazooka” Payi scored a top-notch goal that separated the two sides.

The home side took the game to the visitors but Winners’ goalkeeper, Ayanda Tshaka, stood his ground.

Khaya Skepu unleashed a shot that beat Tshaka, but the upright denied the hosts an equaliser.

Villagers kept on testing Tshaka but he was always alert and denied the opponents goal scoring opportunities.

Eleven Attackers FC, who were in desperate need of three maximum league points, were held to a goalless draw by PE All Stars. Attackers had many opportunities but they went begging.

Andile Dunjwa pulled a powerful shot that beat Attackers’ goalkeeper but the crossbar came to his rescue. The game was very entertaining, with the fans being kept on their feet.
