YOUNG Professionals FC became the Zakhele Football Association (ZAFA) UCE Healthcare Knockout Tournament champions following their 7-6 win over Eleven Angels in the finals.

The game went to sudden death after the 1-1 full-time score. A catfight ensued when Professionals eliminated the youthful Young Neighbours FC 1-0 in their semi-final that produced some fireworks.

It was also crunch time when Eleven Angels FC beat Dynamos FC 2-1 in their enthralling semi-final that kept the spectators on their feet.

Young Professionals played to a 1-1 draw against Eleven Angels in the finals, but the game was decided on a penalty shoot-out.

Professionals won 7-6 in sudden death and went home with a first prize of R7 000, a floating trophy and gold medals. Angels settled for R4 000 and silver medals.

Neighbours and Dynamos did not go home empty-handed as they received R2 000 each.

ZAFA president Vuyani Jomo Mtati congratulated the teams for playing football of high standard.

“I am extremely happy to watch the football of such a high level. All the teams were disciplined and the fans were enthusiastic throughout the tournament. Since the start of the tournament, fans came in their droves to the stadium. The match officials and executive committee did a wonderful job.

“The sponsors UCE Healthcare have also made a huge difference to ZAFA.

“We are optimistic that we will keep healthy relationships with UCE Healthcare because they have come to our rescue. I want to thank UCE Healthcare for lending their hand to us.”
