100s of units of drugs seized

Four susupects have been arrested as police confiscated hundreds of units of narcotics in the Mitchell’s Plain precinct over one weekend.

On Sunday 11 September at 07:10 the Crime Prevention Unit was conducting stop-and-search operations on the corner of Epsom and Lords streets in Beacon Valley. Officers noticed a suspicious man and searched him. Police found 46 straws of tik in his possession.

The 24-year-old man was arrested for possession of drugs.

On Saturday 10 September at 22:45 the unit was conducting patrols at Dagbreek Avenue, Westridge.

Officers saw two suspicious men and searched them. Police found 30 mandrax tablets in their possession.

Two men aged 30 and 31 were arrested.

In another incident on Saturday 10 September about 22:15 police were conducting patrols in Lotus Crescent, Beacon Valley.

Officers noticed a suspicious man and found 78 packets of tik in his possession.

The 18-year-old man was arrested.
