Thousands of runners from all over the Cape celebrated a day of fun and fitness at this year’s JP21 Mitchell’s Plain Titans Race.

The event was created by the Mitchell’s Plain Titans Athletics Club in 2008 and the JP21 project joined two years ago.

The successful 10th annual race saw avid runners alongside professionals and ordinary folk alike participating in the 5km, 10km and 21.1km races.

People’s Post was the official media partner of the event. Other partners included KFM, the City of Cape Town, Boxer, Peninsula Beverages, Total Sports, Western Province Athletics, Nutribullet and PPC.

All three races started at Glendale High School and ended at Rocklands sports complex.

Boxer superclub’s professional athletes from around the country shone at the event, with Olympic athlete Elroy Galant winning the 21.1km men’s race. Glenrose Xaba won the 21.1km women’s race and Tanith Maxwell won the 10km women’s race.

The races culminated in a fun day at the Rocklands field with entertainers and food trucks. The event was aimed at creating a sense of community while promoting health and fitness.
