Hout Bay was combed by 1394 police officers and officers of Law Enforcement, Traffic, Metro Police, disaster management and other agencies as they covered the area carrying out blue-light patrols, foot patrols and several operations, including tracing wanted suspects.Shebeens were searched and other operations were conducted, which led to 174 arrests. These include four arrests for murder, 30 for assault, 39 for drugs and 18 for possession of a dangerous weapon. Eighteen drunk drivers were also arrested.Ten shebeens were closed down. A total of 1493 people were searched and 681 cars were stopped and searched in 145 vehicle checkpoints.During arrests 569g dagga, 12 dagga plants, three units of mandrax powder and 23 mandrax tablets were confiscated.More than 300 traffic fines were issued to the value of R165 000 and 471 690F alcohol were confiscated when police raided 10 shebeens. A total of 15 knives and one pair of scissors were confiscated. One firearm and ammunition were confiscated during a car search.Three people were arrested for possession of 2164 crayfish and 237 crayfish tails.
