20 arrested in Lavender Hill busts

About 20 people were arrested over a period of three days for various crimes in Lavender Hill.

Most of the suspects arrested from Friday 27 to Sunday 29 May were charged with being in possession of drugs.

The youngest was a 15-year-old girl who was arrested with a 19-year-old man for being in possession of dagga. Steenberg police were in Van der Leur Court when they saw a man and a girl hiding on the staircase. Officers investigated and found six packets of dagga.

The oldest suspects arrested was a 54-year-old man, who was held for being in possession of drugs.

Police were patrolling when they saw an unknown man coming from a well-known drug outlet in Grindal Avenue. The suspect was searched and one stop dagga and a half mandrax tablet were found in his possession.
