Kirstenhof police arrested 25 suspects for various crimes in their area during a crime prevention operation.

Sergeant Deidre Solomon, Kirstenhof police spokesperson, says 20 houses were searched. “We made about 13 arrests relating to the possession of illegal drugs, which include tik, mandrax and dagga,” she says.

Solomon says in one incident the police were called out to Pollsmoor where a 33-year-old Lotus River resident was found in possession of 40 mandrax pills, an unknown amount of dagga and a packet of tik.

“It is alleged that she was trying to smuggle the drugs to an inmate, but was searched at the entrance.”

The suspect was arrested and charged for possession of drugs.

Solomon says police also clamped down on illegal liquor outlets in Westlake on Friday last week with one suspect arrested. “A total of 180F of liquor was confiscated and the suspect was fined R1500,” she says.

Anyone with information on crime can call the police at 10111 or Crime Stop on 0860 010 111. Solomon says all information will be treated as confidential
