3 weekend murders in precinct

Police are investigating three murder cases that took place in the Mitchell’s Plain policing precinct last weekend.

In the first case, police were called to a scene in Beacon Valley on Saturday 9 July at 06:10, after a compliant of a shooting Hopscotch Street.

On arrival they found a 22-year-old man lying on his back, on the ground, with several gunshot wounds.

In the second case, police were called to another scene in Beacon Valley on Sunday 10 July at 20:01 in Kennetjie Street.

On arrival police found a 23-year-old man lying in the road with a gunshot wound to his chest.

In the last incident, on the same day at 22:15, police were called to a scene in Portlands.

Officers responded and found a 31-year-old man lying inside his yard in Buckingham Way. He sustained three gun wounds to his chest and one to his head.

Police are investigating these three cases. It is believed the cases are not related, says police spokesperson Constable Nozyko Makwayiba.

They further state the motives for these murders are believed to be gang related.

At this stage no arrests have been made.
