42-gun salute for Brazil and Uruguay

A 42-gun salute (two 21 firings) will take place on Friday 31 August at 08:00 for the visiting ships from Brazil and Uruguay which will be participating in Exercise Atlasur XI 2018 at Lower North Battery. Firing rehearsals will be held on Wednesday 29 and Thursday 30 August at 10:30. Residents are cautioned not to be alarmed, but pet owners are advised to take precautions. Exercise Atlasur is a multinational biennial exercise between Brazil, Argentina, Uruguay and South Africa. Argentina is not participating in this year’s exercise. The exercise will run from Friday 31 August to Friday 21 September in Simon’s Town.
