2015-09-01 06:00

Police are on the hunt for five armed men after a cash heist in Beacon Valley.

Police say that on Thursday at 11:00, two armed guards were transporting cash bags from their van to a bank located inside Promenade Mall.

They were approached by five armed men, confirms provincial police spokesperson Constable Noloyiso Rwexana.

“According to reports the suspects robbed the security guards who were delivering money to the bank. The suspects fled the scene in a white Toyota Corolla with an undisclosed amount of cash and two of the guards’ firearms,” she says.

The Corolla’s registration number is CA 749 141.

It is alleged that the guards were inside the mall when the robbers hit.

No injuries were reported and no shots were fired.

Police were called to the scene.

A cash in transit case has been opened for further investigation.

At this stage no arrests have been made.
