Students at college in Claremont will have the opportunity this week to “strut their stuff” – all in the name of charity.

Varsity College in Cape Town will host a fashion show on Thursday. It is one of the events held throughout the year to raise funds to purchase a mobile library and donate it to a school in need.

The annual Mr and Miss Varsity College Cape Town fashion show will be held at Tiger Tiger in Claremont.

All the proceeds from the show will go towards purchasing a mobile library from The Masixhasane Literacy Project.

This is the second year that Varsity College is raising funds to purchase a mobile library to donate to a disadvantaged school.

The Masixhasane Literacy Project is an NGO that aims to educate youngsters. It tries to awaken a passion for reading by building mobile libraries for disadvantaged schools.

The theme for this year’s fashion show is “Hollywood”, with models strutting on stage in “gorgeous attire” sponsored by several fashion brands.

Future hair stylists at a salon training academy will style the models’ hair.

The lineup includes performances by the Street Stylers, Jarred Rickett and surprise acts.

The event is open to the public and will take place from 18:00 to 20:00. The public is encouraged to support these students who want to make a difference
