Aim for safe, clean neighbourhood

The Sea Point, Fresnaye and Bantry Bay Ratepayers and Residents’ Association has an initiative to tackle crime and grime.

In response to increased criminal activity and cleanliness issues in the area, it aims to provide a safe and clean area for visitors and residents.

The ward has grown substantially over the past few years, leading to increased activity, both commercial and residential, and a need for greater, more responsive and visible security as well as a focus on cleaning, says Association vice-chairperson and safety and cleansing project manager Marco van Embden.

The first phase of the project covers Beach Road from Three Anchor Bay to Saunders, including the Promenade and London and Marais roads.

The Association has raised enough money to fund a day shift for a year. The cleansing will be done by the NPO Straatwerk twice a week. Doggy bag dispensers will be available along the grassed area.

To support this initiative email the Association’s coordinator, Toni van Eyssen, on admin@
