Several cases of armed robbery have been reported to Wynberg Police in the last week.

During one of the robberies two armed female suspects were reported to have committed the crime.

Warrant Officer Silvino Davids, spokesperson of Wynberg Police Station says the incident occurred on Friday 4 September at 13:45 in China Mall, Brodie Road. “A woman and her friend were in Maynard Mall and wanted to purchase something at China Mall and made their way to an ATM when they were approached by the suspects,” he says. Davids says the suspects pointed a firearm at the victims and demanded all their belongings. “They also demanded the bank card pin and also took the victims cellphones,” he says. No shots were fired and no one was injured during the robbery.

In a separate incident a woman was standing alone at a traffic light at Ottery Road on Tuesday 1 September at about 01:00 when she was approached by one woman and two men. “They threatened her with a knife and took her handbag which had her cellphone including her purse inside,” Davids says. The victim was not harmed during the incident.

Police have arrested a man linked to a robbery which occurred in Kenilworth on Thursday 3 September at about 03:15. Davids says a group of four friends were robbed by four men with knives and torches on a field in Thomas Road.
