Project 021 will host “Poetry and motion” on Thursday 24 September as part of their Heritage Day celebration.

About 50 creative artists will participate in the event with poetry, dance, rap, music and song. The purpose of the event is to celebrate our diversity by using creative arts.

According to David Cornelson, Project 021’s director, “creative arts allow us to express our thoughts, views, anger and joy on a platform where individuals are not judged or ridiculed for expressing their thoughts, persuasions and opinions”.

He says in a society where violence is a “language” which is commonly communicated and understood, Project 021 hopes this event will encourage meaningful and constructive communication and dialogue within this same society.

“We know that there is still lots to do in order to address the social ills in our society. We also acknowledge the challenges of poverty, unemployment and violence that plague many communities, but we also know that opportunities do exist which can assist people to rise above the adverse environments, and accomplish great success.”

The event takes place at Vanguard community hall, corner of Heideveld Avenue and Mangaan Road from 14:00 to 17:00.V

Anyone still wishing to participate in the event can contact Cornelson on 082 884 8090 or david@project021.
