Break a sweat

A husband and wife team is whiping residents into shape with a free 12-session bootcamp.

About 30 Strandfontein residents will soon complete the challenge which they started on Monday 30 March.

Herbalife health coach Rochelle Edson says they want to educate the community about healthy living.

“Many people want to eat right but they lack the education. As part of the project we are educating residents on nutirition and healthy living,” she says.

The project is facilitated by Jumpstart Nutrition and features only organinc natural products. There is no fee attached and residents are required to attend classes at least twice per week.

Edson says a new challenge will be starting soon.

“Places are already starting to fill up. We offer the classes without any charge and the reaction has been great thus far,” she says.

The bootcamp includes 12 sessions, nutrition classes and an information session.

Carmen Roberts says she got involved with the project because she wanted to lead a healthy and active lifestyle.

“I like the fact that it’s open to all, young and old and [people of all sizes]. You don’t need to be fit, anyone can come and workout,” Roberts says

“I believe it’s important to take care of our bodies, while we are healthy. Instead of trying to do damage control when we get sick.”

The second intake will take place on Friday 1 May and all are welcome.

The sessions are held in the parking lot of the municipal buildings and the Window of Heaven church, both in Strandfontein.

Classes start at 19:00.

Edson says they hope to double the number of participants this month and are well on their way.
