Clothing shop robbed

2015-10-13 06:00

A bystander, a store manager and his staff were robbed at gun point at Nyanga Junction on Wednesday morning.

Manenberg police spokesperson Lieutenant Ian Bennett says the victims were threatened by five unknown men in one of the clothing shops at 08:00.

It is believed the five men came to the front door of the store and told the manager and the bystander, who were standing outside, to open the doors.

As the doors opened, the suspects pulled out firearms and threatened the staff who were inside, proceeding to force the manager to open the safe.

Cash to the value of R92 000 was taken, while the rest of the staff and the bystander were held in the shop’s storeroom.

The suspects fled on foot in the direction of Manenberg, firing several shots.

The bystander was hit and taken to hospital for treatment.

It is alleged the suspects then changed direction.

Bennett says no arrests have been made yet and a case of business robbery has been opened for investigation.V
