Cape Town creatives will have the opportunity to sketch, scribble, colour and collaborate on ideas at a unique doodling session on Thursday.

Hosted by the Cape Craft and Design Institute (CCDI) in partnership with Nando’s Hot Young Designer competition, the #HYD2015 doodle session is part of the CCDI’s night market, which has become a popular event as part of the First Thursday Cape Town programme.

Under 35s are challenged to design a beautiful, usable pendant light fitting that will bring an inimitable South African design magic and a sense of authentic South African connection into the interior of a Nando’s restaurant across the world.

The fun and interactive doodling session will give creatives an opportunity to play with design ideas, and encourage them to enter the Nando’s competition, which closes on 14 September.

The session will be facilitated by a community-driven empowerment project called “1000 drawings – doodle for a difference”.

At the night market visitors will also be able to browse goods from 20 women-owned businesses, in celebration of Women’s Month, along with food and drink stalls.

The market takes place on the corner of Harrington and Barrack streets from 17:00 to 21:00. V
