Manenberg police made a double bust on Wednesday last week after conducting two searches at various properties in the area.

A 16-year-old boy was arrested on Wednesday afternoon for the possession of 187 units of heroin after police received a tip-off and visited a house in Red River Road.

According to Lieutenant Ian Bennett, Manenberg police’s spokesperson, the boy was found outside the house and police found the drugs when they searched him.

The police also conducted a search of the house in Red River Road.

The boy was arrested and will appear in the Athlone Magistrates’ Court.

In another search conducted at a house in Elsiekraal Road on Wednesday night, police arrested a 66-year-old man for the possession of dagga with a street value of R5000.

Bennett says police were busy with crime prevention duties when they received information about drug dealing.

“On searching the premises in Elsiekraal Road they found nine bags of dagga valued at R5000.”

“The 66-year-old male who was home at the time was arrested and will appear in court.”

Anyone with information regarding drugs and dealing in drugs can contact the Manenberg police station on 021 699 400.
