Close to 1000 units of drugs have been confiscated and a suspected dealer has been arrested following a tip-off from residents.

The Lentegeur police Crime Prevention Unit received information on Wednesday 5 May that drugs were being kept at a home in Woodlands, says Sergeant Cathy Meyer, police spokesperson.

“The officers went to the home in Jason Crescent. There they found 980 mandrax tablets and two zip lock bags containing numerous heroin units,” Meyer says.

She confirms to People’s Post that the officers searched the home and found the mandrax in one of the rooms. The drugs are valued at an estimated R40 000.

“The suspect was at home and when officers entered the home they found the drugs in a room, hidden in an empty computer box,” she says. The man was then arrested for possession with the intent of dealing.

The 38-year-old man has been on the police’s radar for some time now, Meyer confirms. This is his first arrest.

He had his first appearance in court on Friday on charges of drug dealing.

The Lentegeur police management wants to thank all community structures of Lentegeur who joined the police in combating crime. Residents are urged to remain vigilant and to contact their respective sector commanders with information on criminal activities.
