“Some surrounding residents have offered a hand with this and as we add plants and birds make it home, it will in future be a huge benefit to all with beauty and bountiful biodiversity,” adds Brown.

The clean-up was dependent on volunteers. The Friends hope to do even more if they get more volunteers.

They are very grateful to those who took the time to make sure that the area is clean and leaves no space for criminal activities.

This time around they were able to cover more ground as help came from different areas. Some volunteers who took part in the campaign came from Bergvliet High School, Wynberg Girls’, the Claremont police and Gugulethu Youth.

Brown says they hope to welcome more local schools and organisations to their next clean-up campaign
