Community theatre company Legend Productions will stage the gospel musical The witness with a modern twist at the Galloway Theatre from Friday 7 to Saturday 22 August.

The witness is a narrated musical drama written by Grammy award winners Jimmy and Carol Owens.

It’s the story of Jesus’ life told through the eyes of fisherman-apostle Peter, but this time round, the production will be set in modern-day Cape Town.

Producer and director Sean Dryden works with a cast of 20 amateur singers and actors and his production team, many of whom were part of the last successful production by Legend Productions. The Disney musical Hunchback of Notre Dame won several awards at the latest Cape Amateur Theatre Awards, including the auspicious Cape Times Cup for Most Adventurous Production.

The weekday shows start at 19:30 and the Saturday shows at 18:00.V

Tickets cost R110 and R80 for pensioners and students. Visit www.waterfronttheatreschool.co.za/booknow or call Sharon on 082 772 8867 to book. Visit the Legend Productions page on Facebook for more information
