Police are looking for three machine gun-wielding men who robbed a man of his car and other belongings in Lansdowne last Wednesday.

The car-jacking took place in Almar Road, at 20:15, confirms Lansdowne police spokesperson Sergeant Nkululeko Mnyaka.

“The complainant stopped at a friend’s house in Almar Road and parked his car. As he walked toward the gate the man was approached by three armed men. The suspects demanded his car keys while threatening to shoot him. The complainant went down and gave them the vehicle keys,” Mnyaka says.

Two of the men were carrying handguns while the third was carrying an AK47 machine gun. The suspects got into the man’s white Mercedes Benz with the registration number CA 104 121 and drove off in an unknown direction. The men also made off with a Blackberry cellphone worth R8 000, house keys, his wallet with R1 200 cash and identity documents.

Anyone with information about the incident are urged to call the Lansdowne police on 021 700 9000 or 082 576 2804
