Maiden’s Cove improved, not sold

I refer to the anonymous letter “Vote against Maiden Cove” published in People’s Post.

I wish to bring to the attention of your readers that there is no plan to sell or develop the Maiden’s Cove picnic area as claimed in this letter.

In fact, after consultation with a delegation from the Khoisan leadership in the city and a meeting arranged by a local radio station with community members who frequent the braai facilities of Maiden’s Cove, they were very happy with the proposed improvements planned for the area and even suggested further fencing to improve the security situation.

The users of Maiden’s Cove will, in fact, have access to a new and improved area.

I appeal to anyone with concerns to visit the local library where the concepts for the area are available to view.

Over the last few weeks City officials have been meeting with all interested parties, including ratepayers’ associations, Camps Bay schools and the Clifton Bowls Club and the feedback has been very positive
