Man killed on street

2015-05-19 06:00

An 18-year-old man was shot and killed in Elmarie Street on Wednesday last week.

Mitchell’s Plain police spokesperson Sergeant Jerome Voegt says the man had been walking in the street at the time of the shooting.

“Officers were called to the scene of a shooting in Elmarie Street. There they found the man lying with a bullet wound. It is alleged that the man was walking and a group of suspects walked past him and shot him before walking away,” he says.

The man was shot in the head and declared dead on the scene.

Residents reported that the body had still been in the street at 18:00.

He was shot after 16:00.

A murder case is under investigation.

No arrests have been made.

The shooting comes shortly after a march against violence was held in the street earlier this month (“Enough!”, People’s Post, 5 May). V
