A memorial service will be held for detective Constable Reagan Marthinus, who served at Simon’s Town police station.

The service will take place at the NG Church in St Georges Street tomorrow at 10:30.

Marthinus joined the Simon’s Town station in 2010, after joining the force in July the previous year.

He passed away while off-duty on Tuesday last week.

Marthinus completed his basic training at Philippi Training College, after which he completed his field training in Simon’s Town.

It was his dream to become a detective,and after being placed in this branch, he served diligently, says station commander Captain Jacqui Johnson.

“He added a humorous touch at the branch, even at the station – when members were working under pressure, he would always crack a joke or two,” she says.

“He loved jazz music and even while at college he played in the church band as the guitarist. He was married to Nerusha Marthinus and had two beautiful daughters, Nadine and Riyana.”

His burial with take place at the Mount Hope Kingdom Life Church in Woodlands, Mitchell’s Plain on Saturday at 09:00.
