More upgrades at Oatlands

More improvements to Oatlands resort are currently being discussed by the City of Cape Town and the resort operator.

The Simon’s Town holiday resort reopened in March after a new operator was appointed. The previous tenant was evicted due to non-payment of municipal accounts, explains Belinda Walker, mayoral committee member for community services and special projects.

“This has led to a different management model for resorts. In line with this, a management contract has been concluded with a private operator to run the facility.

“The management agreement was concluded in February. We are confident that the new service provider will do justice to the pristine location of this resort and manage it in a way that will ensure that it is a desirable and affordable holiday option.”

Renovations are being carried out, Walker says, with more to possibly follow.

“There have been improvements to the offices and the chalets, including painting work and repairs to bathrooms and kitchens. The chalets have been newly furnished,” she says.

Trees have been trimmed and the grass is now in good condition, Walker says
