New talent comes to life on stage

2015-06-09 06:00

Some of the hottest new musical talents will be on stage at Artscape Theatre when the Cape Music Institute presents Brand new stars.

The show will see 50 of the institute’s first- and second-year students take to the stage from Thursday 11 to Saturday 13 June.

By day, these students study subjects, like Music Business, Song Writing, Music Theory, Music Culture and Performance Production, taught by maestros Camillo Lombard, Bradley Adams, Zeldene McDonald and Winston Siljeur, but by night their true nature shines through when they get onto stage and sing and perform their hearts out.

The performances also form part of the CMI’s mid-year examination, and the students will have to walk the walk – and sing the song – to prove that they are worthy entertainers.

Depending on their subjects, some of the students will also be involved with the technical aspects of putting a show on stage – under the watchful eye of the Artscape technical staff.

Brand new stars will be performed from Thursday 11 to Saturday 13 June in the Artscape Arena. The show starts at 19:30 and will be approximately 100 minutes in length, including an interval. Tickets cost R80 and can be bought at Computicket
