The 2015 Baxter Dance Festival swings into action with the internationally-acclaimed Nuwe Graskoue Trappers this week.

The festival runs from Thursday 8 to Saturday 17 October with the Nuwe Graskoue Trappers performing a once-off show on Thursday 8 October at 20:00.

There will also be a once-off performance of Mamela Nyamza and Neliswe Xaba’s The Last Attitude at 20:00 on Saturday 9 October.

Following the resounding success of the 10th anniversary last year, this year’s line-up will showcase a record number of 78 works by choreographers with some 400 dancers representing dance studios, schools, companies, groups, independent dance-makers and choreographers from all over the Western Cape.

Despite limited funding the hugely popular festival is widely regarded as the premier dance platform of its kind and has become an annual ‘not-to-be-missed’ event on the local calendar for dance, movement and theatre enthusiasts. It is the perfect environment to experience and see work by established professionals, as well as exciting up-and-coming practitioners.

The Main programme, which runs from Thursday 8 to Friday 16 October at 20:00 daily, will feature works of various lengths by established professionals.

The Off-main programme takes place on Saturday 10 October at 17:00 daily, showcasing 22 different works by up-and-coming choreographers (including student choreography) while the Fringe programme on Saturday 17 October at 14:00 will include 33 works by youth groups, dance studios, school groups and traditional dance groups.V

Tickets for the 2015 Baxter Dance Festival are available from Computicket. Visit or Theatre for the festival program.
