R20 000 netted in house robbery

Police are investigating a house robbery where goods and cash to the value of about R20 000 were stolen in Constantia.

The incident occurred on Wednesday 9 September at about 22:40.

When police arrived at the scene they noticed a sliding door on the ground with a pillow on top of it.

Warrant Officer Silvino Davids, spokesperson of Wynberg Police Station, says according to the residents, a man and a woman, four suspects entered the house after they used a crowbar to break-in.

“The woman was in one of the bedrooms when the suspects entered the room and threatened her. She fought back as they tried to take her bag. However the suspects managed to take her bag which had about R3 000 to R3 500 in it.”

Davids says they also took a cellphone with more cash (R12 900), a gold charm and a bracelet.

“The man was sleeping in another room and was robbed of his wallet which contained about R2 800,” he says.

It is not known if the suspects fled on foot or in a vehicle.

The investigation continues and a case of house robbery was opened at Wynberg Police Station.

Meanwhile three cases of robbery were also reported , including one where a woman was threatened with a knife and robbed of her cellphone to the value of R500.

Davids says the incident occurred in Castletown Road on Wednesday 9 September at about 08:15.

“The woman was not harmed during the incident,” he says.

In a separate robbery a woman was robbed of her cellphone while travelling in a taxi from Hout Bay to Wynberg.

Another case of robbery occurred in Electric Road in Wynberg on Friday 11 September at 09:45 when a woman who was walking was confronted by an unknown man who pushed her and demanded her cellphone.
