See art on the spot

2015-05-19 06:00

For one night only ordinary people will have the opportunity to watch talented artists as they create unique works of art at Artmode on Thursday.

This annual event or exhibition showcases artists using a diversity of styles, mediums, forms and influences.

Artmode presents a behind-the-scenes experience that allows visitors to see the artists in their element. It provides a platform for established and budding creatives to express themselves in an environment that inspires the ultimate space for creativity.

This year the Artmode event will take place at The Palms in Woodstock, where visitors will get to experience a range of performance art.

Original Swimming Party, Toni Crichton and Theresa Mills, Wild Lettuce, Imraan Samodien and Rumspringer will provide musical entertainment while Riaan van Zyl, Leigh Tuckniss, Kelly John Gough, Avhashoni Mainganye, Katharina Berner, Samantha Appolles and Liane Dutilleux will paint and Alexis Aronson and Callum will draw.

Guests can also expect to watch dance performances by Abigail de Waal, Craig Pedro and Eurythmy by Centre of Creative Education, with visual performances by William Scarbrough, Maurice Mbikayi and Megan Wylie.

This Artmode event is held in support of Camphill School in Hermanus. Attendees are encouraged to make a donation towards the school at the door. Camphill School offers a therapeutic community set in a rural environment for children and young adults with special needs.V

Artmode starts at 18:00 and runs till late. Entrance is free, but guests will need to book on info@youniqueconcepts.co.za to be added to the guest list for the evening. Visit www.facebook.com/artmodemusic for more information
