2015-08-04 06:00

Six men are wanted by the police for robbing a supermarket on the corner of Wetton and Monton roads on Tuesday last week at 20:30.

“Four men with firearms threatened the Bangladesh foreign nationals and took R9000 cash, R1300 worth of cigarettes and a cellphone. The suspects then fled in an unknown direction,” Lansdowne police spokesperson Sergeant Nkululeko Mnyaka says.

“The 42-year-old victim and his shop assistant were in the shop when the six came in. One suspect bought airtime and the victim saw the other five were pushing his brother to the kitchen. The suspect who was buying airtime took out a firearm and demanded money from the till. After that he took cigarettes and left,” Mnyaka explains.

He adds the shop assistant was assaulted and sustained various injuries although no shots were fired.
