The Soulfood Foundation set out to feed hundreds of less fortunate residents last week.

The organisation, a division of the AFM Church in Portlands, handed out soup to people living in Town Centre for Mandela Day on Friday last week.

During the week they also invited the Community Police Forum to talk about drug abuse and teenage pregnancy as a means to empower the community.

The people living on the streets of Town Centre welcomed them as they appreciated the warm cup of soup and bread.

On Saturday last week the volunteers also visited Eastville in Eastridge where they also handed out a cooked meal to the needy in the community.

The organisation intends to extend this programme and run a feeding scheme in various areas every week.

The organisation is calling on residents and businesses for assistance. Call Andre Lewin on 082 338 9047
