Southgate shares vision for ward 72

2015-05-05 06:00

I wish to express my sincere thanks and appreciation to all those who came out in support of the Ward 72 by-election.

A 97% result is an overwhelming majority and confirms the voters’ support for and commitment to an efficient city.

During my term of office, residents have my assurance that I will do my best to serve the entire community.

My mission is to ensure service delivery and the creation of a better community whilst performing oversight of the local government processes.

I will be engaging with all stakeholders and encouraging them to become more proactive in addressing the needs of the communities they represent.

It is essential for organisations like civic associations, business, sports and religious bodies as well as non-profit organisations to engage with local government structures by participating in the integrated development plan (IDP) and budgetary processes. They can do so by registering on the City of Cape Town database in order to make effective use of this channel of communication; and in this way, agitate for community issues to get onto the system.

The IDP is a five-year plan and it is essential that we at least prioritise our needs and get some of them included in the plan.

Residents must also be resolute in ensuring that they log complaints on the C3 system either by email, SMS or telephone. A reference number will be supplied to them so that complaints can be tracked for future reference. All complaints are captured directly into the system and tardy responses can then easily be followed up.

Please also copy me in on all correspondence so that I am able to monitor and follow up.

All those organisations who wish to be included onto the database are welcome to email me or send an email direct to Subcouncil 20.

For C3 complaints, residents are encouraged to send an SMS to 31373; contact the call centre on 0860 103 089 or send an email to
