Three men were arrested and have appeared in the Cape Town Magistrates’ Court after a mother and daughter was robbed in their home in Maitland last week.

It is alleged that an unknown man knocked at the front door and asked for money. Within the blink of an eye another man joined him, then entered the house and threatened the mother and her daughter with a firearm. The man held the firearm against the mother’s forehead and demanded money. The two men took the television and fled in a black Opel Kadett.

Through thorough investigation Maitland police officers were able to identify and arrest three suspects.

A fourth suspect was arrested after he was found to be in possession of the stolen television. He has also appeared in court on a charge of possession of stolen property.

Maitland Police spokesperson Constable Lorencial Johnson says the investigation continues
