Police have confiscated six firearms and ammunition in the Mitchell’s Plain area.

Police officers arrested a 17-year-old boy in Hawk Street, Rocklands on Saturday evening last week.

The officers were doing a routine vehicle patrol when they noticed four suspicious-looking men in the street. The suspects were searched and the members found a Norinco 9mm pistol with no serial number and 8 live rounds of ammunition on the teenager.

. Earlier that day members attached to Operation Combat arrested a 23-year-old man at a house in Waterval Street, Tafelsig for possession of a large quantity of drugs.

The members received information that drugs were delivered at the house and upon their arrival at about 10:30 they found the suspect at the house. The house was searched and officers found 50 small packets of tik, 50 heroin units and 40 mandrax tablets.

. Further, 12 tracing operations were conducted, which led to the arrest of 52 wanted suspects for various crimes.

During the same week 29 houses were searched for drugs, and 188 suspects were arrested. Various drugs were confiscated, including 100g heroin, 608g tik, 63 mandrax tablets and 522g dagga
