Two nabbed for delivery of R7000 tik

Police arrested two suspected drug dealers after acting on a tip-off about a delivery of drugs to a residence in Overcome Heights in Vrygrond.

Captain Angie Latchman, spokesperson of Wynberg police cluster, says officers of Muizenberg police station held a stakeout on Tuesday last week.

“As the alleged drug dealers approached the residence of the potential buyer, police swooped on them and managed to confiscate 140 packets of tik to the value of R7000,” she says.

The two suspects, aged 22 and 25 years, appeared in the Muizenberg Magistrates’ Court on Wednesday.

. Meanwhile, Steenberg police arrested a 19-year-old man for possession of an unlicenced firearm.

Police were doing patrols in 11th Avenue in Retreat on Friday night when they spotted two men running across the street towards Bernstein Road.

Warrant Officer John Bartlett, spokesperson of Steenberg police station, says: “One of the constables and his partner drove towards and stopped next to the suspects. The constable went on to search the suspect while his partner searched the other one. The one suspect informed the constable that he was in possession of a firearm.”

The firearm is a grey and brown Walther 7.65mm pistol with no serial number.

“The suspect from Gemsbok Avenue, Lotus River was detained at Steenberg police and is a member of the Junkie Funky Kids,” he says.
