Visible house number needed in emergency

2015-11-03 06:00

Police say emergency services are having difficulty to rush to residents’ aid when they can’t find the correct addresses of residents in distress.

It has come to the attention of Maitland police that a lot of the houses in the Maitland area have missing house numbers.

This is either due to theft or because homeowners do not replace the numbers after a painting or restoration job.

It is due to this reason that emergency services, such as the police, ambulance services and the fire brigade, might struggle to find a home to provide the much needed essential services.

Police suggest that residents paint their house numbers on the wall where it will be clearly visible from the street. A clear and visible house number is essential, say the police.
